S-s-s-s-s-a-tur-day Night

Is for dissertation writing.  Ran more statistics this afternoon.  Decided that my professor is really a genius, because by not telling me exactly what to do at this point, she has forced me to figure things out on my own.  And I am not by any means an expert now, but I certainly know more then I did a few months ago.  Thinking back, I remember this being the #1 way to get people to learn something--make them do it with as little help as possible.  This technique does not work for everyone, as some people are freaked out by not having directions on what to do next.

Went to a staff party last night with Greg.  Everyone there is so nice, and I really enjoyed talking with one lady who loves books as much or more than me.  Reminded me that sometime I would like to blog about favorite books from my childhood and the painful torment I went through when we were preparing to move to Florida and I had to get rid of almost a whole room full of books.

Also, I don't believe I mentioned that I have now seen my first alligator.  It was on the Fort Myers campus, swimming in the fake lake, last week.  It was rather small, a baby I guess, but still an alligator.  Must be smarter then they seem sometimes, as it didn't try to eat the fake Canada geese that were also swimming on the same lake.

A note to [info]elf_chick (and anyone else who has a hard time finding clothes that fit sometimes.):  I have rediscovered Penneys, having bought 2 pairs of pants, a skirt, and several blouses there recently, all fit well, all 60% off or more, all very work appropriate without all being suits and fussy clothes.  (Maybe I'll get someone to take some pictures of me modeling the clothes, but don't bet on it.)  I like their Liz & Co, East 5th, Worthington, and St. John's Bay lines.  Their new line (America?) looks nice, but not on clearance yet.  DON'T buy anything there full price, just wait and it will be at least 50% or more.

A final culinary note:  A recipe for a very chic and easy Brie Appetizer

1 full size round of Brie
1 head of garlic

Peel garlic and blanch in boiling water.  Carefully slice off the top rind of the Brie.  Using a small knife, make as many slits in the Brie as you have garlic.  Place Brie in glass or ceramic baking dish and bake at 350 degrees until runny.  Serve with crackers of your choice.  (Or, if you are me and like Brie and garlic and love the two together, just eat with a spoon.)  The best thing about this that if it starts to cool off, just pop it in the microwave for a minute or two.  Add some nuts and fruit, and you have a veritable spread.
